Art Ingels is widely recognized as the “father of karting” because he built the first go-kart in his Southern California garage in 1956. A race car builder by trade, his invention sparked a new, popular and accessible form of motorsport which has transcended generations around the world for close to three-quarters of a century.
On the 70 th anniversary of the invention and production of the first go kart, Formula KFX is proud to announce the Art Ingels Memorial Race at Sonoma Raceway Karting Center on February 1, 2026.
