FAQs
Formula KFX is suitable for all Motorsports enthusiasts and everyone is welcome. We offer a variety of formats, together with a range of championship classes, to suit the rookie driver all the way to the experienced racer.
Cadets can race from the age of 7 (subject to height and weight) and Juniors can race from the age of 13 (subject to height and weight). Seniors can race from the age of 16.
Yes. All Formula KFX racers must undergo a 30 minute on-track evaluation, with a qualified member of our staff, to race in any of our events.
If you are a rookie driver and have never raced a 2-stroke kart previously, you must enter a 30-minute test session. This does not mean that you can’t enter a race at the same time. The test is purely to assess that you are happy, and we get the chance to check out your ability.
Best to contact Philip Pegler directly on (831) 285-0585. He will be able to advise you accordingly.
Formula KFX does not provide racewear. All drivers must provide their own racewear, which includes mandatory use of a Race Suit, Helmet, Gloves and Shoes. Junior drivers are also required to wear a CIK-FIA approved Neck Brace. The use of a Rib Protector is strongly recommended for all drivers.
No. This is something you will need to purchase.
Yes. Drivers are required to own their own racing attire. It is also important to consider a Rib Protector and Neck Brace (mandatory for Juniors).
Our partners at Franklin Motorsports offer great deals to Formula KFX racers. You can also go to any reputable online store or the shop at Sonoma Raceway to purchase racewear.
All our championships implement minimum racing weights. For example, the minimum racing weight limit in our Senior Championship is set at 78kg (172lb). Therefore, if you weigh below this limit, you will need to add ballast to your kart.
We carry a small stock of ballast, which you may rent from us on race day for a minimal fee. However, it is our policy that drivers who race on a regular basis purchase their own ballast from Formula KFX. You may purchase your own ballast from C & M Machine Shop in Salinas, CA.
